The story so far.

Dear customers and friends of Anastasias. On the 20th March we closed our doors to the public with great worry and uncertainty. There was no clear instruction from the Government as to the way restaurants and pubs would deal with this new announcement. Some smaller family owned establishments have managed to stay open and good for them. At Anastasias we are also family run and the decisions we have had to make have been hard.

I’m not here to tell a sad story.  I’m here to tell you a positive story, one of optimism and hope. This mandatory closure has allowed us to stop; standstill for a while and listen to the quiet; to be able to unclutter our minds and allow great things to happen and they will.

This means for the past 15 days I have started to wake up with ideas and now I have a plan!!!!!

Yes a plan. This is the first time in 24 years since we took over the running of the restaurant from our uncle Kyriacos, that the phone hasn’t rung, the door hasn’t opened and the restaurant is quiet. Strange as it may be a positive energy is flowing through the shop. Change is happening.

Anastasias has achieved a 5* food hygiene rating since the legislation was introduced, but that’s not enough. We have introduced more stringent cleaning schedules, food preparation and cooking procedures and are finding ways to be more conscientious when buying, storing and selling foods, be it fresh produce, plant or meat.

Out with the old decor and in with the new, clean and modern designs. We have been lucky that we have some family members in our household that can make a mean “Moussaka” and change the pipes under a sink. We have been working hard together to propel this Greek restaurant into 2020.

In the process we have eaten and drank everything in the restaurant, maybe the drinking was me, but we are getting results. We are working together, having fun and the restaurant is being transformed.

Anastasias will continue to be one of the best party venues in St Albans & a place for friends and family to meet and socialise.

Celebrate and enjoy with good food and great company.

We will bounce back better than before.

  • The Kleftiko was massive and tasted great. They certainly don’t scrimp on the portions so have enough left over for a snack tomorrow. This is definitely being added to my weekly takeaway treat.

  • Went to Anastasias a few weeks back on a Sunday evening with my girlfriend and my parents. The food was lovely and the service was brilliant. I had the pork souvlakia and it was honestly the best restaurant meal I have ever had. I fully recommend this restaurant 10/10

  • I had a christening event at Anastasias as it’s opposite St Peters church. The day was made even more memorable by the way the staff looked after us. The food was so tasty and reminded me of my time travelling the Greek Islands. We were even allowed to smash some plates. Well worth the bill (which wasn’t as much as i thought it would be).

  • One of my friends took me here to celebrate my 50th a few months ago. Then I took a group of my girl friends here and to celebrate one of their birthdays. The food was delicious, waiters really look after you and we had heaps of fun dancing, dancing with the belly dancer and plate smashing. Fab evening

  • Wanted a lively typical Greek rest to celebrate my fathers 80th. Turned up to be greeted by smiling helpful staff. Restaurant catered for noisy lively parties or if it was a 2 some I spotted a quieter area set off at the rear. Food was ok, service very good, but the staff made my dads night a special one along...
